Bike East Art Attack: A public art scavenger hunt … by bike!

bike east

I love this: A bike-borne public art scavenger hunt.

This Saturday, you can participate in Bike East Art Attack. At 11 a.m., you’ll pick up a checklist (and some breakfast tacos) at Cycleast, 1619 East Cesar Chavez Street. From there you’ll pedal to as many public art checkpoints as you can. At each stop you’ll earn a chance to win a new bike and other prizes in a raffle at the after party, which starts at 4 p.m. back at the bike shop.

Everyone who signs up will get a swag bag and free tickets to the Fresh Festival in May 2015.

Instagram and Tweet pics of yourself at each location, using the hashtags #artattack and #fresh, to earn additional raffle tickets. Decorate your bike and wear your art-inspired gear for extra merit.

Entry fee is $25 for adults; or free for children 12 and under with a registered adult. Reserve your spot at thefreshfestival.com/art-attack.Here are my top five reasons for participating:

1. If you ride a bike to the East Austin Studio Tour, you won’t get stuck in traffic.

2. It’s easier to park a bicycle than an automobile.

3. Free exercise!

4. Cyclists have cute legs.

5. It’s the hipster thing to do.
