Run With a RangerIf you find yourself in the Hill Country this week, head over to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area or Inks Lake to work off some of the holiday calories.

Park rangers at Enchanted Rock will lead a 1.2-mile hike, 3-mile jog and 5-mile run through the park starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. Bring a reusable water bottle; Friends of Enchanted Rock will supply post-trot goodies.

Park admission is $7 for adults or free for children 12 and under. Turkey Trot participants are asked to make a suggested donation of $10 for the Friends of Enchanted Rock.

Registration is required. Email Scott Whitener at Scott.Whitener@tpwd.texas.gov to reserve your Turkey Trot spot.

The park is located north of Fredericksburg, at 16710 Ranch Road 965.

Inks Lake State Park will host a 2.5-mile Pedal off the Pie mountain bike ride starting at noon on Friday.

All ages and experience levels are welcome, and riders will make stops along the way to enjoy some of the park’s natural features. The program is free but park entrance fees apply.

The group bike ride will depart from Pecan Flats trailhead. Most of the trail is rideable and the pace will be slow. For more information, call (512) 793-4689.
